The election campaign has just been given an injection of gravitas with a parade of party elder statesmen. Which are most useful to their campaigns? We ran a YouGov poll for Red Box to find out.
The question we posed was: "How much, if at all, do you respect the following people?" As our league table shows, John Major, William Hague and Paddy Ashdown do well on the total respect measure, while Peter Mandelson comes bottom.
