YouGov European tracker series looks at the popularity of the leaders of Britain, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy and Spain

Keir Starmer – United Kingdom

January's tracker poll found that 18% of Britons had a favourable opinion of Keir Starmer and 75% had an unfavourable opinion. These scores are within the margin of error of those for December's survey, and therefore represent little change.

Emmanuel Macron – France

January's tracker poll found that 16% of French respondents had a favourable opinion of Emmanuel Macron and 79% had an unfavourable opinion. These scores are within the margin of error of those for December's survey, and therefore represent little change.

Friedrich Merz – Germany

January's tracker poll found that 26% of Germans had a favourable opinion of Friedrich Merz and 69% had an unfavourable opinion. These scores are within the margin of error of those for December's survey, and therefore represent little change.

Giorgia Meloni – Italy

January's tracker poll found that 35% of Italians had a favourable opinion of Giorgia Meloni and 57% had an unfavourable opinion. These scores are within the margin of error of those for December's survey, and therefore represent little change.

Pedro Sánchez – Spain

January's tracker poll found that 34% of Spanish respondents had a favourable opinion of Pedro Sánchez and 65% had an unfavourable opinion. This represents a slight increase in popularity since December's survey, with the number of Spaniards holding a favourable view rising by four points and the number with an unfavourable view remaining largely the same.

Mette Frederiksen – Denmark

January's tracker poll found that 44% of Danes had a favourable opinion of Mette Frederiksen and 52% had an unfavourable opinion. This represents a substantial increase in popularity since December's survey - doubtless a rally-around-the-flag effect, given the recent Greenland crisis - with the number of Danes holding a favourable view rising by ten points and the number with an unfavourable view falling by eleven points.
