A 22‑year-old migrant from Gambia has drowned in Venice's Grand Canal. Three life rings were thrown near the man, but he did not grab hold of them, raising speculations of a suicide attempt. A video has been shared showing people watching the event and some shouting racist chants, and no one jumped in to help.
