Goalkeepers were the star performers of the last round of Premier League fixtures, with Manchester City’s Joe Hart edging out Newcastle’s Tim Krul to be named Player of the Week. Norwich boss Paul Lambert’s inspired substitution decisions, bringing on Wes Hoolahan and Grant Holt, who both made the SportsLabs Team of the Week, helped his side beat QPR and make him the top-rated manager. Newcastle, Norwich and Tottenham all have three players in the team of the week, which is completed by Hart and Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva.
The weekend’s results defied many SportsLab’s fans’ predictions: only four of the results tipped by our participants came to fruition. Draws for Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City were among the surprise results. The difficulty in correctly predicting this week’s games is highlighted by the fact that the BBC’s Mark Lawrenson (four results correctly predicted) and The Times’ Fink Tank predictor (four results correctly predicted) also struggled.
