For the second week running, SportsLab’s football fans predict five home wins, three draws and two away wins in this weekend’s Premier League fixtures. Despite their recent struggles, 91% expect Chelsea to win against Wolves. More than three-quarters expect wins for Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United against Fulham, West Brom and Newcastle respectively. A majority of our respondents also predict that Stoke will win at home to Blackburn and that Sunderland will overcome Wigan. Draws are the most-expected outcomes as Bolton host Everton, QPR visit Norwich, and Swansea’s game with Aston Villa. Fans are split over the latter fixture, however, with more than a third expecting the Welsh side to pick up a win. The toughest game to call is league-leading Manchester City’s visit to Anfield: 43% predict a City win, but 40% have plumped for a draw. Only 17% expect Liverpool to emerge from the clash with three points.

In each of the two previous gameweeks, SportsLab’s fans have correctly predicted seven of the ten results. How accurate will your predictions prove this weekend? Can they beat the pundits again? We’ll publish the results next week alongside our Premier League ratings article.

Labs Method statement

YouGovLabs research is anecdotal, with polls being open to all panellists who wish to take part. In contrast to YouGov’s Public Opinion polling, YouGovLabs seeks to understand the attitudes of specific subsets of people: sports fans tell us how they feel about sports and music fans tell us how they feel about music, for example. YouGovLabs results are unweighted, and figures reported do not reflect the attitudes of the population as a whole.
