SportsLab football fans predict five home wins, three draws and two away wins for this weekend’s Premier League fixtures, this week’s poll has shown.
Swansea have only conceded one goal at home in the league so far this season, but 83% of SportsLab fans expect them to be beaten by visiting team Manchester United. Nearly three-quarters (72%) expect Manchester City to dent Newcastle’s unbeaten record at the Etihad Stadium, while a similar proportion (73%) predict that Arsenal will prevail away at Norwich.
Draws are foreseen by a majority in three games: Sunderland’s match with Fulham (50% predict a draw), Bolton’s game at West Brom (51% expect the spoils to be shared) and Wigan’s early-season six-pointer with Blackburn (52% think the clubs will share the points). The Stoke-QPR fixture is another game which has divided SportsLab fans: 44% believe Stoke will triumph at the Britannia, but 42% expect a draw.
Sunday sees Chelsea host Liverpool, with 47% of SportsLabs fans expecting a home win, but 40% predicting a draw. And on Monday night, Tottenham are favourites to beat Aston Villa at White Hart Lane, with 80% predicting a home win.
How accurate will Sportslabs fans’ predictions prove to be this time around? Will they better their showing from last time, where they correctly predicted seven out of ten results? And how will they fare in comparison with established pundits? Check back next week to see how SportsLab fans predictions measure up.

Labs Method statement
YouGovLabs research is anecdotal, with polls being open to all panellists who wish to take part. In contrast to YouGov’s Public Opinion polling, YouGovLabs seeks to understand the attitudes of specific subsets of people: sports fans tell us how they feel about sports and music fans tell us how they feel about music, for example. YouGovLabs results are unweighted, and figures reported do not reflect the attitudes of the population as a whole.
