A majority of the population has never heard of most of the contestants in this year’s Celebrity Big Brother, research from YouGov finds.

Lacey Banghard is the least well-known contestant with 83% of those questioned never having heard of the page 3 model, just ahead of actor and model Sam Robertson (82%) and American reality TV star Spencer Pratt (78%). The remaining contestants that the majority of Britons have never heard of are Neighbours actor Ryan “Toadfish” Maloney (73%), The Hills star Heidi Montag (72%), Steps singer Claire Richards (57%), former Heartbeat actor Tricia Penrose (54%) and model Paula Hamilton (53%).

The poll finds that Frankie Dettori is the most famous celebrity in this year’s house with a majority (61%) of people saying he is either a big celebrity or somewhat of a celebrity. The jockey comes in ahead of former EastEnders and Footballers’ Wives actress Gillian Taylforth on 41% and retired footballer Neil Ruddock third on 27%.

Sportsmen

The sportsmen in the house are rated as celebrities by more men than women. 63% of men think Frankie Dettori is either a big celebrity or somewhat of a celebrity compared to 60% of women and for Neil Ruddock the figures are 29% of men compared to 24% of women.
