The latest voting intention figures from
our daily poll for the Sun have the Conservatives on 37%, Labour on 43% and the Liberal Democrats on 10%.
At six points the Labour party's lead is very much in line with the average 5 point lead that we've seen over the past fortnight. The Liberal Democrats are on 10%, so remain in double figures - three of our last four polls have shown the Lib Dems at ten or more, suggesting they have recovered marginally since the end of last year - perhaps as the toxic issue of student tuition fees has dropped down the agenda.
Our poll yesterday was mainly conducted before the announcement of the latest GDP figures, which showed the economy shrinking in the last quarter of 2010. Our poll tonight will be the first opportunity to see if the bad economic news has had any immediate impact on people's views.
