Latest YouGov Westminster voting intention figures for Scotland

The latest YouGov/Times voting intention figures for Scotland see the SNP continue to dominate the political landscape, although the 41% of Scots who currently intend to vote for them would represent a nine point drop since the 2015 general election.

The proportion of Scots intending to vote Conservative is almost double the proportion that voted for them in 2015, rising thirteen points to 28%. Meanwhile Labour are polling at 18%, a drop of six points, falling into third place behind the Tories.

Turning to Scottish independence, the majority of Scots are opposed to a second referendum being held in the next five years. 51% of Scots think there should not be a referendum in the next five years, compared to 42% who think there should be one (a further 7% don’t know).

When asked about more specific scenarios, 49% of Scots oppose and 37% support a second referendum after Brexit negotiations have concluded but before Britain leaves the EU, and 48% of Scots oppose and 35% support a second referendum after Britain has left the EU.

Should a second independence referendum be held, however, the results would mirror those of the first, at 55% for No and 45% for Yes.
