YouGov-Cambridge research supported the latest report from the Centre for the Future of Democracy at Cambridge University, suggesting younger generations around the world have become increasingly more dissatisfied with democracy, both in absolute terms and relative to older cohorts.
As the report further notes, however, the “populist wave” of 2015 to date signals a possible trend reversal.
Commenting on results, Dr Roberto Foa, lead author of the report, stated: “This is the first generation in living memory to have a global majority who are dissatisfied with the way democracy works while in their twenties and thirties”.
