Latest YouGov Westminster voting intention figures

The first YouGov/Times voting intention poll of Liz Truss's tenure shows the Conservatives on 29% of the vote (+1 from our previous survey on 31 August-1 September) to Labour's 44% (+1). This is Labour's highest score since August 2017.

Elsewhere, the Liberal Democrats have 10% of the vote (-1), while the Greens have 7% (+1) and Reform UK have 3% of the vote (=).

When it comes to who would make the best prime minister, Liz Truss starts her tenure on the back foot. Only a quarter (25%) say she would make the better national leader out of herself and rival Keir Starmer, who takes 32% of the vote. Two in five (40%) say neither.

This represents a six point drop for Keir Starmer since the last poll in early August, although Liz Truss is not a beneficiary of this shift; Boris Johnson's last score in that same survey had been 28%.
