O, come all ye faithful?

The vast majority of the British public is not planning on attending church at all during the Christmas period and only a small minority will be going to church on Christmas Day itself.

  • Of the 2,092 people asked, 67% said they would not be going to a service at all over Christmas
  • 11% said they would be going on Christmas Eve
  • 8% said they were planning on going around Christmas, but not on Christmas Day or Christmas Eve
  • 5% said they would be attending a service on Christmas Day itself

These results would seem to back up the findings of our previous poll here which showed that Brits think the most important aspect of the Christmas season is the opportunity to see family rather than celebrating the religious element of the festival.
