Widely-derided ITV I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here contestant Gillian McKeith, who has fainted, cried, screamed and complained her way through an astonishing number of ‘Bush Tucker trials’ to the dismay and excitement of the viewing public, is no doubt wishing she’d never entered the jungle in the first place; and her unpopularity is being soundly confirmed on our TellYouGov leaderboard as she remains in the top five most talked about topics for the fifth day running.
Over the past week the topic ‘Gillian McKeith’ has rocketed up the board, giving the former You Are What You Eat presenter an impressive volume score of 225 and a sentiment score of -208.
In short, panellists are flocking to comment negatively about Gillian’s erratic behaviour, testy exchanges with other contestants, and the recent revelation that she smuggled forbidden food into the jungle.
Many TellYouGov users, or ‘tyggers’, find McKeith extremely irritating and have jumped at the chance to let us know how much they want her to leave the competition.
There were some tyggers though who spoke positively about the nutritionist’s presence on the show but not necessarily in a kind way for McKeith herself:
A holistic nutritionist famous for her examination of clients’ diets and, more controversially, their stools, Gillian McKeith has become a notorious contestant on I’m a Celebrity... following her frequent bouts of hysteria, apparently ‘fake’ fainting spells and unlikely claim that she is pregnant.
Despite such unpopularity, McKeith is not the first of the contestants (which include comedienne Jenny Éclair, X Factor finalist Stacey Solomon, comedian Dom Joly, Hollywood actress Britt Ekland and former Lib Dem MP Lembit Opik) to have been voted out of the jungle, leaving that dishonour (or relief, depending on your view) to former football WAG, Sheryl Gascoigne. Judging by the comments received, however, if the TellYouGov users get their way it shouldn’t be too long before McKeith is evicted herself.
The next episode of I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here will be broadcast Saturday, ITV1 at 9pm.
