Our latest poll on the issue shows that support for a referendum on the Alternative Vote system (AV) remains unchanged at 37%, while support for the current, first-past-the-post, system has seen a slight increase of one percentage point, from 38 to 39%.
Since the formation of the Coalition Government on May 12th, we have been tracking how the public would vote were a referendum held on the issue of whether to adopt the Alternative Vote system. The current results show that support for the alternative AV system ‒ which was at 45% in the first week of July ‒ continues to wane, and its stagnation at 37% continues to be the lowest support the alternative voting system has recorded to date.
