With the European Parliament elections taking place on 9 June, voters will decide who will represent France in Strasbourg. Since the beginning of the year, YouGov has been tracking French voting intentions, and can reveal which parties are on track to come out on top.
National Rally are on track to be the largest French party in the European Parliament
YouGov’s latest polling – conducted on 31 May - 5 June - finds that the right-wing group ‘Rassemblement National’ (National Rally) led by Jordan Bardella would receive the largest vote share (32%) from the French electorate. This would be a nine-point increase from the 2019 election where they won 23% of the vote share.
One in seven voters (15%) say they will vote for Ensemble (Emmanuel Macron’s Renaissance party in coalition with MoDem, Horizons and UDI), which would make them the second largest party. The parties collectively received 25% of the vote in 2019.
The Socialist Party (in coalition with ‘Place Publique’) are polling third on 12% of the vote. The right alliance "The Right to make the voice of France heard in Europe" of Les Républicains and Les Centristes are trailing joint-fourth on 6%, as are Jean-Luc Melenchon’s ‘France Insoumise’ (France Unbowed).
The latest results are the sixth in a series of polls YouGov France has conducted since the beginning of the year. National Rally has been consistently far ahead each time, with Ensemble likewise stable in second place.
