A study analysed data provided by approximately 250 US PR agencies.

A Gould + Partners survey revealed that the North American PR industry grew by 4.8% in 2018. The same growth rate was observed in 2017 and 2016. The rate was 6.6% in 2015 and 7.8% in 2014.

The study found that midsize PR firms (with net revenues between $3 and $10 million) observed the highest net revenues last year with a 9.1% growth. Small firms, less than $3 million in net revenue, grew at 6.4% (which translates to about $1.8 million). Firms with net revenues in excess of $25 million saw a growth rate of 4.2%, the lowest average growth.

Region wise, PR firms located in north-western part of the country topped the list for revenue gains. It was followed by Northern California, Southwest and Washington D.C. metro regions.
