The police reportedly paid a convicted child rapist almost £10,000 for information that led to the conviction of 17 other men and women for abusing young girls in Newcastle. Do you think it's acceptable or unacceptable for someone who has committed such a crime to be a paid police informant, if the police believe that only they can provide the testimony that will convict others of serious crimes?
