Mr Miliband makes jokes

Labour leader Ed Miliband used the issue of Prime Minister Cameron’s evolving position on minimum alcohol pricing to make a joke at today’s PMQs, asking MPs, "Is there anything he could organise in a brewery?"

Mr Miliband supports minimum prices for alcohol, as did the Tory Government until earlier this week.

Mr Cameron said he would nevertheless “deal with” the sale of cheap booze, telling MPs "There is a problem with deeply discounted alcohol in supermarkets and other stores and I am absolutely determined that we will deal with this.”.

Mr Cameron replied to Mr Miliband’s jab with a suggestion that they throw a party to celebrate shadow chancellor Ed Balls having kept his job until now.

Mr Miliband replied with another joke, this time involving cabinet minister Theresa May: "He obviously couldn't tell us about his policy on alcohol, minimum unit pricing, Mr Speaker. I think the reality is he has just been over-ruled by the home secretary on this one." This is not the first time in recent weeks that the Labour Leader has invoked Ms May at PMQs
