Christmas may be a religious festival but for most Brits, spending the holiday with family is more important than marking the Christian celebration of Jesus’s birth, our poll of over 2,000 British adults has found.

  • 61% said that being around family was the most important part of Christmas
  • While ‘having a break from work’ was deemed important by the same proportion as favoured the festival’s ‘religious significance’, with both options netting 12%
  • 5% feel that exchanging presents is the more significant element

6% said they feel ‘other’ parts of Christmas are the most important.
