The novelty of having a real Christmas tree appears to have been outweighed by the chore of picking up pine needles in the post-Christmas slump, as the majority of the British public will be buying artificial Christmas trees this year.

- Only 15% are braving the pine needles and post-Christmas hoover-a-thon by having a real tree
- 18% do not intend to get a tree at all
