Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel has strong demand among movie-goers

Wes Anderson, critically acclaimed American indie director of the Royal Tenenbaums and Moonrise Kingdom, brings the hotly anticipated The Grand Budapest Hotel to UK cinemas this weekend.

The film follows Ralph Fiennes, the concierge, through the kitsch and elaborate Grand Budapest Hotel, as he services the intimate needs of thousands of aristocratic old ladies.

In a reception fitting of Anderson’s extravagant style, YouGov research finds strong demand among moviegoers for his latest pastiche: it ranks at first place for consideration, with 45% of moviegoers saying they would like to see it out of the next four weeks releases.

And it ranks third for buzz (46% have heard something about it), just behind 300: The Rise of an Empire (also out this weekend) with 47% and next week’s new release, Need for Speed, which has 48%.

The Guardian and Times give Anderson’s new film four stars, while the Telegraph and Independent both give it five.
