As news comes in that Justin Bieber’s ‘retirement’ might not be so certain, YouGov finds 85% of those with an opinion in support of him giving up music
Justin Bieber made a shock announcement during a radio interview on Wednesday: “After the new album, I’m actually retiring man. I’m retiring.” Only it now seems he will not be. He quickly backtracked, “I want to grow as an artist and I’m taking a step out, I want my music to mature”, and before the crowds came out to weep sources said: “Justin’s just going through a phase – no-one’s worried. He’s not retiring, he’s being a little punk!”
Well whatever management say, Mr Bieber, the British public are right behind your initial instinct. Excluding those who don’t know or care (most people: 73%), a huge majority of 85% support 19 year old Bieber in his very early ‘retirement’. Only 15% of those who care say he should stick at it, though slightly more of his 18-24 year old peers (32%) feel the same.
If stepping down really is his aim, however, the public are less optimistic that he will manage to. Only 7% say it is likely that he will, compared to 93% who say it is unlikely, excluding those who don’t know or care (58%).
