One of Britain's largest energy providers announced record profits today but has it left them out in the cold with their customers? What's your reaction?
British Gas today announced an 11% increase in profits compared to figures this time last year. It claims this is due to the particularly “colder-than-normal” winter we’re experiencing and the resulting increase in residential energy usage.
Many have criticised the company for raising its prices by 6% at the end of 2012 in anticipation of these falling temperatures and credit this business decision with the financial results published today.
Caroline Flint MP said the Prime Minister should not let energy companies continue to "get away" with these inflation-busting price increases.
