A plurality of people in Wales would vote for Britain to stay in the European Union if a referendum was held today, a YouGov poll for ITV Cymru Wales finds.
The research among over 1,000 adults in Wales finds that more than four in ten (42%) want to stay in the EU, just over a third (35%) want to leave and more than one in five (22%) don’t know or won’t vote in a referendum. The latest figures for the UK as a whole show 41% supporting remaining in the EU, 38% wanting to leave and 20% not knowing or not voting.
European elections
Among those in Wales who plan to vote in next year’s European election, 44% back Labour, 23% support the Conservatives and Plaid Cymru have 14% support. The poll shows that the United Kingdom Independence Party (9%) has slightly more support than the Liberal Democrats (7%).
