The new, widely criticised, UKIP adverts are not considered racist, offensive or ignorant by the public
UKIP launched some new adverts this week, to kick start their campaign for the European Parliament elections on May 22nd.
They have been widely criticised. Labour MP Mike Gapes called them "racist", while Conservative MP Nicholas Soames called them "offensive and ignorant".
But when shown pictures of the above two posters most people (59%) disagree that they are racist, and 53% disagree that they are offensive and ignorant.
In fact, the majority (57%) agree with Nigel Farage's defence - that they are a "hard-hitting reflection of reality" - and people tend to support their general message, by 50-41%.
The party leader, Nigel Farage, said: "Are we going to ruffle a few feathers among the chattering classes? Yes. Are we bothered about that? Not in the slightest."
