This summer saw the release of several hotly-anticipated films.

Which did you never want to end, and which could you not wait to finish? Which actors did you love, and which irritated you beyond belief? We want to know!

You know how sometimes you wait the entire summer to see a film, and then it’s not as good as you thought it would be? Or – much better – it’s more enjoyable, interesting and exciting than you even imagined? A really good film can capture the imagination and remind you why, in this age of digital television, HD DVDs and movies on demand, people still flock to cinemas to pay money for the latest big releases. A really bad film makes you wonder why you even bothered.

This summer saw the release of several hotly-anticipated movies, varied in scope and focus, some to rave reviews and others less so. Films like One Day, starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, and adapted from the bestselling book of the same name, generated much interest among divided audiences who disagreed over the casting. Other films, such as Pirates of the Caribbean (starring Johnny Depp in favourite role Jack Sparrow) or the much-awaited, final instalment of the worldwide phenomenon that is Harry Potter, were the box-office smashes – if not critical achievements – that everyone expected.

Other movies, like the Change-Up, starring Ryan Reynolds, or Oscar-winning actors Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks’s offering Larry Crowne, were less popular.

And more films are to come – such as The Help, an adaptation of Kathryn’s Stockett’s much-debated tale of life in segregated America, which promises to attract much interest on the back of the book’s success.
