The public’s price advice is clear
Figuring out what can be an appropriate amount to spend on a wedding can be tricky.
Fortunately, the results of a new YouGov survey take away the guesswork by revealing what the public think.
If the wedding is for a person you are very close to, the majority of Britons (56%) give an answer in the range of £50-100.
If, however, the wedding is for someone you are not so close to, that range goes down to £50 or less, with 77% of people giving an answer in this range. Only 8% of people think you should spend more than this.
These overall findings are consistent across social classes, generations and genders – and results among married Britons are likewise the same.
So if you’ve been fretting about how much to spend on wishing the newlyweds well, why not let the public be your guide?
