The video quality for 2022 NFL Super Bowl streamers was quite good, with a consistent viewing experience. However, those who used social media to track the game were likely disappointed, owing to delays in streaming.
TV was the most popular streaming platform, with 86% of NFL watchers watching the game on a smart TV and a connected TV (CTV), or gaming console. Roku-enabled devices accounted for 36% of the total viewing time, followed by Amazon Fire TV (19%) and Samsung TV (13%). The delays in video stream were consistent, ranging from 30 to 45 seconds in TV broadcasting networks.
The average video start time was 3.9 seconds, and the average viewing time per unique device was 132 minutes. The majority of Super Bowl ads were identical to those shown on broadcast TV. Netflix ran ads for its movies, like "The Adam Project," a new Ryan Reynolds film, while Disney+ ran ads for its greatest of all time (GOAT) movie. Hulu, Paramount+, Pluto, and Tubi did not air any commercials.
