Social media industry is perceived as the most untrustworthy by US consumers

A study conducted by Ketchum took a look into the amount of confidence the US market has in tech companies.

The research revealed that 45% of B2B buyers are less likely to work with a company that’s suffered a data breach. Another 45% of buyers will stay away from companies that don’t have ethical standards in place for data use.

Coming back to how tech is perceived, 70% of respondents believe that Big Tech is responsible for the “political division in the country.” 71% of participants blame social media for the anti-vaccine movement.

The report also found that as far as industries go, the social media industry is considered to be the most untrustworthy. This is followed by government services, advertising, connected home products, traditional media and others.
