Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have recently gained popularity.
NFL and Dapper Labs together will work towards creating NFTs of games’ digital video highlights. All 32 NFL teams are participants. NFL fans will be able to collect and own NFTs that will be about in-game snapshots and memorable snapshots of the season.
The launch is expected later this year. NFL’s SVP of consumer products, Joe Ruggiero, says, “We believe blockchain technology has great potential to enhance the NFL fan experience in the future.”
According to Roham Gharegozlou, co-founder and CEO, Dapper Labs, the NFTs will be a new way for audiences to engage with the sport. Earlier this month, Dapper Labs entered into a partnership with LaLiga to offer digital collectibles for soccer fans.
