Facebook unveils gaming Fan Groups

Players can link up actual games within the gaming Fan Groups, through “Looking for Player” post.

In a recent announcement, Facebook launched a new group exclusively for game creators, as the company focuses on gaming, to build its presence in the niche. The gaming Fan Group includes a few select gaming creators and is intended to promote communication within the gaming community.

Groups will include elements like #tags for topics, streamlined navigation and relevant discussions to help players connect with aligned interests. Users will be prompted to join a Fan Group after engaging with a creator's Page and will be recommended gaming groups based on games they stream.

Badges earned during a creator’s live-stream will be transferred to the Fan Groups as well. With Facebook Gaming reporting over 200 billion hours in watch time in 2020, the groups can boost the company’s VR tools.
