US consumers excited to shop in-stores

YouGov surveyed 2,594 US adults between 18-19 March, 2021.

Despite COVID-19 changing how consumers bought products, Americans’ yearning for shopping in-store is growing, as vaccines become widely available. Among those who shopped less often in-stores during COVID-19, 57% expressed excitement to get back into physical stores, as per the latest research.

Grocery stores/supermarkets at 68% were the most preferred in-store shopping destinations among consumers, followed by drug stores (64%) and value stores (62%). Convenience retailers like 7-Eleven and Superstores like Walmart and Target came in at 57% and 55% respectively.

Women (23%) were more likely to be very excited to get back to in-store shopping, compared to men (16%). However, 78% of consumers plan to shop online the same or more frequently than before. 21% plan to increase shopping with “e-tailers” like Amazon and eBay, and only 11% will reduce online purchases.
