The Google-owned video-streaming platform is exploring more ways to monetize commerce across the website.
YouTube is looking to integrate shopping experiences to allow users to make purchases directly on the site. A blogpost by Neal Mohan, YouTube’s chief product officer, said the platform wants users to tap into the credibility and knowledge of trusted creators on the site before making a purchase on the site.
The streaming website is launching Shorts in beta in the US. The short video format has been previously tested in India. Youtube is also looking to change its navigation systems and build more custom experiences for logged-in users.
YouTube is also increasingly streamed on TV, though most videos are still accessed through mobile. The platform is also looking to improve navigation, accessibility, and search functions of the YouTube VR app.
