Digiday surveyed 52 agency professionals to highlight their business in 2020 and views about 2021.
The annual survey found that close to one-third of agencies have increased their headcount this year. A similar percentage of respondents also said their headcount has stayed the same or decreased.
This represents significant growth as major holding companies reported some staff reduction in the aftermath of the pandemic-induced economic downturn. A separate Digiday survey found that more than half of publishing companies have seen their staff reduced this year.
Despite the industry's initial anxieties after lay-offs due to cash crunch and lengthening payment terms, agency professionals are optimistic about 2021. The majority of agency professionals are confident about the industry's prospects, and more than 80% are positive about their employers in the coming year.
