US District Court for the District of Columbia issued an injunction against TikTok download ban in the States.
Following the proposed ban of TikTok downloads in the US earlier this month, Apple’s App Store and Android’s Google Play removed the app from their app stores. But, the Chinese-based ByteDance-owned video sharing platform has managed to avoid the US government’s download ban after Judge Carl Nichols overturned an executive order.
The proposed ban would have restricted new users from downloading TikTok from any app store. The US president had passed the ban to protect American citizens against potential privacy and security threats.
A TikTok spokesperson said they are pleased that the court has agreed with their legal arguments. The person further added, “We will continue defending our rights for the benefit of our community and employees.”
