Socialinsider’s recent study analysed over 22 million Instagram posts.
As per the report, carousel posts on Instagram are more effective than plain posts with videos or photos. The average engagement rate per carousal posts was 1.92%, compared to 1.74% for images and 1.45% for videos. Using all 10 carousel slides boosts the engagement rate to over 2% per post.
Carousel posts using both videos and images combined had the highest engagement rate of 2.33%. 7% of carousel posts on Instagram contained images and videos. Only 6% of carrousel posts included all 10 slides.
88% of carousel posts were of only images, and 4% contained only videos. The report states carousels with both images and videos received a median number of 16 comments per post. However, carousels containing only videos received a median number of 26 comments per post.
