Spotify rolls out video podcasts to several of its podcasts, for both desktop and mobile versions

Spotify has announced its plan of video support for several of its podcasts, available to its Free and Premium users. Users can consume the video podcasts on both desktop and mobile versions of Spotify, and multitask and switch between apps on phones.

Video podcasts could present an opportunity for brands to leverage video ads on the platform. Spotify says the video version will help creators “connect more meaningfully with their listeners” and improve audience engagement.

Consumers can also download the audio version of a video podcast. With Spotify’s plans to make Joe Rogan (a popular podcaster) exclusive on its platform, the company signed a deal in May to support video versions of his podcast.
