Deloitte State of the Consumer Tracker report surveyed 1,000 consumers across markets biweekly, to study the impacts of the pandemic.
The report states that 56% of American consumers are planning to limit public travel, including rideshare services for the next three months. Although 74% of US consumers consider the idea of owning a vehicle valuable, 37% say they are delaying large purchases in automotive.
47% of the consumers plan to keep their current vehicles longer and 21% of current vehicle owners are worried about making upcoming payments. The idea of vehicle ownership being valuable is also reflected in markets like France (79%), UK (69%), and South Korea (63%).
Job security anxiety is a concern among 30% of US consumers. Consumers in Chile (74%), India (71%), and Mexico (65%) share similar sentiments.
