A website not being available for any amount of time could cost a business dearly.
Despite digital data being extremely important to companies, an Infrascale study found that 16% of small and medium businesses (SMBs) are unaware of their recovery time objectives (RTOs). The article defines RTO as “the time between the recovery process a business initiates until its infrastructure and services are available”.
Over one in five respondents currently don’t have a disaster recovery or backup solution. 31% participants cited not having the right resources or budget as the reason for their unpreparedness.
However, 24% of those polled expect data to be recovered in less than 10 minutes following a disaster. Only 9% have an RTO of a minute or less. The RTO is one day for 17% of respondents, an “eternity for any business with a strong online presence”.
