YouGov and Centre for Economics and Business Research analysed the consumer confidence data on important metrics.
The UK consumers’ confidence remains low, despite a slight increase of 0.3 points in the consumer confidence index in April. But, the slight uptick pales in comparison to 14.8 drop in the consumer confidence index over the past three months.
Confidence around business activities remains negative at 93.7, despite a 5.2 points increase than last month. Expectations in business activities in the next 12 months, however, have remained “strongly” optimistic, slightly dropping by 0.3 points than the previous month.
Consumers’ confidence around job security in the past 30 days saw an increase of 3.6 points in the last month but remains overall negative at 85.4. Confidence for the next 12 months around job security remains overall positive at 109.1.
