Three-quarters of Britons think it is acceptable to buy non-essential goods online

40% of brit households have brought groceries online during the lockdown.

Only a minority of Britons (17%) think that non-essential shopping is either not very or not at all acceptable despite appeals to limit non-essential items. While 50% think it is fairly acceptable, another 25% believe it is very acceptable to buy such items online during the lockdown.

About two in five 18- to 34-year-olds said they had bought a fashion or beauty product online while self-isolating. Clothes and beauty products are the second-most popular online purchases made online by British households during the lockdown after groceries.

Reading materials like physical books (21%), arts and crafts supplies (24%) are among other popular purchases during the quarantine. At the same time, a fifth of those surveyed are limiting the amount of online shopping.
