Overall digital commerce in the US improved 20% in Q1 of 2020, as per Salesforce.
With stay-at-home orders and stores closed across the US, consumer spending on essential goods through digital rose 60% as per the report. Consumers increased daily digital purchases by 50% between mid-March and the end of it.
Top metro cities for digital commerce in Q1 were New York, Boston, and Chicago respectively. Consumers on the East Coast reported spending 200% more on digital purchases compared to the West Coast. Michigan and Mississippi recorded 77% of mobile traffic share, while the highest mobile orders were from Missouri at 62%.
“Disney” was among the top five searches from most major metro cities, while other searches like “Dresses” and “Star Wars” were also trending. Digital traffic for social channels increased by 47% in Q1.
