The Institute of Public Relations and Peppercomm surveyed marketing professionals to understand the role of business leaders’ in COVID-19 recovery.

The survey revealed that only 19% of businesses are communicating information on diversity, equity and inclusion, indicating vast opportunities for brands to resolve these issues. But, 90% of respondents also said their leadership team has effectively handled COVID-19 crisis.

75% of marketers said their CEO has been “very involved” in communicating internally about the pandemic. Though face-to-face engagement is the most effective mode of communication now, nearly 99% business leaders report using email to connect with employees.

The research found that only 10% of communication professionals have an extensive plan to return to normal business operations. 27% of respondents said they would have a “phased return to work”, while 12% said they planned to “come back all at once”.
