Instagram and Facebook have a favourability rating of 72% and 71% respectively.
This article cites a study by The Verge which found that a relatively small percentage (38%) of Americans know that Instagram is owned by Facebook. 47% of respondents know that Google owns YouTube and 29% of Americans are aware that Facebook owns WhatsApp.
The author observes that based on the study it seems that even after eight years of Facebook acquiring Instagram, a lot of users remain unaware of both companies being under the same umbrella. This is despite Facebook’s efforts to create more awareness about its properties.
In November 2019, Facebook (as part of a rebranding effort) added “from Facebook” to Instagram and WhatsApp. Further, the report found that Amazon and Google have the highest favourability ratings at 91% and 90%.
