Draft regulations weren’t released until 11 October 2019.
This article states that five leading advertising trade organisations, the Association of National Advertisers (ANA), the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A’s), the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) and the American Advertising Federation (AAF) have sent a joint letter to California’s Attorney General asking to delay enforcement of CCPA by six months.
CCPA’s enforcement is scheduled to be effective from 1 July. The trade groups note that the extension would give businesses “a sufficient time period to implement the new regulations before being subject to enforcement.”
Dan Jaffe, group EVP for government relations at ANA comments that the five organisations haven’t yet received a response from the AG’s office. The law “needs a lot of work” to make it simpler for brands, says Jaffe.
