Facebook defines the powers of its content review board

Facebook has outlined the next stages for implementation of its independent Content Oversight Board. The board will help Facebook make more informed decisions on what should or should not be allowed to be shared across its network.

The board will review cases where users disagree with initial content decisions made by the platform. Facebook said that it would be implementing the board’s decision on individual content pieces within seven days.

The social network will need to provide a public response regarding any policy recommendations and follow-on actions within 30 days. These changes can have a significant impact as more than half of Americans get some news from social media platforms, especially Facebook.
