Currently, gaming accounts for 72% of all spending in app stores.
According to App Annie’s research, the global spend on mobile games is expected to touch $100 billion in 2020 from $86 billion in 2019. Mobile games saw 25% more spending as compared to all other games combined in 2019.
The spending on mobile games was 2.4 times more than the spending for PC and Mac games, and 2.9 times that of gaming consoles. The report also indicates that $120 billion was spent on apps 2019 globally, of which $25 billion came from the US.
The report predicts a $240 billion spend on mobile in 2020 by advertisers, up by 26% from 2019. The combined IPO valuation of mobile-focused companies like Alibaba and Uber is $544 billion, 6.5 times more than companies which aren’t mobile-centric.
