It now is the third largest social media platform in the US.

This article cites a report by eMarketer which found Pinterest to have overtaken Snapchat’s user figures by the end of 2019. Pinterest ended 2019 with 82.4 million US users as against Snapchat’s 80.2 million. This makes the platform the third largest social media platform in the US.

Where Snapchat skews younger in terms of its user base, Pinterest enjoys a wider appeal across age groups. 66.5% of Snapchat users are 12-17 year olds, and only 28.1% of Pinterest users fall in the same age bracket.

In 2020, Pinterest users are forecasted to account for 41.1% of all social network users in the US. This figure is expected to see growth in the next three years, whereas Snapchat may “fall flat” in 2021.
