Facebook has rolled out a new application to drive traction among younger users. The app, “Whale”, is available to Canadian users through a company called New Product Experimentation (NPE) Team LLC, which is a part of Facebook’s experimental app division.
Whale lets users create their own memes using simple templates and tools. The user can choose an image that they want to use as their template, either from their gallery or from the app’s stock library. It offers latest meme templates that could help gain friction among younger users.
The author points out that Whale might be Facebook’s answer to Giphy and other meme-creating apps. Whale claims to have “no distractions and no hidden subscription pricing”.
