Compared to a decade ago, search interest in “local” plus “near me” has grown 350 times in the US

In the past 12 months, local coffee shops have emerged as the most popular local shops based on search interest.

Google notes that local businesses are currently experiencing “tremendous” momentum. A recent Google report revealed that, as compared to ten years ago, search interest in “local” plus “near me” has gone up by 350 times in the US.   

Also, search interest in “mom and pop shops” was the highest currently over the last three years. In such searches, particular interest in restaurants, diners, pharmacies, coffee shops and pizza places was recorded.  

Search interest in local coffee shops was observed to be at an all-time high in 2019. has also announced a $10 million pledge “to help low-income and under-represented entrepreneurs start new businesses via access to training and capital.”
